Let’s harness the power of sun (Blog 2)

Our Project Title, logo and slogan

The main objective of our project is to spread awareness about the green energy, as energy production from conventional ways is damaging our environment. Now our thought process was that people will ask OK it is damaging the environment but where is the alternative. So we decided to also provide consultancy to the people regarding green energy.

Major facts about Pakistan’s Energy Crisis

Since our team consists of many technical background people that had the knowledge of solar panels. So we decided to provide consultancy to the people regarding installation of solar panel. It was in our mind that because it is a very expensive technology so it will not be easy to convince people so we decided to add in our consultancy, points about Rate On Investment (ROI).

After our marketing campaign 3 clients showed interest in installation of solar panels so we calculated the load of each house of the clients and gave them quotation according to our market research and customer need. After the Green signal from the customer we outsourced this installation process to relevant companies.

Challenges and Solution

Challenges of our project

One of the biggest challenges we faced was collaborating with the speakers.

To raise awareness and attract potential customers, we had to arrange seminars about the benefits of solar PV which was meant to be conducted by a veteran of Solar PV. As AMAL taught us the science of LinkedIn, we started building connections with the people experienced in the field of solar energy for the past month.

Yet another massive challenge that came across to us was to convince people to invest in a sky-scraping amount for solar panel installation. We were determined to show them how much of the costs they will save every month on their electricity bills.

Solution for Connecting with the Speakers

LinkedIn is one of the most popular networks for professional communities these days. In the past few weeks, we have learned about the importance of LinkedIn in AMAL, and how to build great connections that can be extremely helpful for your career. We found it pretty useful and actively started building connections on LinkedIn with the people having expertise and experience in solar energy because only the experienced one could understand the technicalities, and help people with their queries. Through our hard work, we were able to connect with Mr. Saad Ullah Khan who is the founder and CEO of Electrosoft Technologies, and conducted a successful webinar for the awareness and clearing the myths related to the solar PV system. We will continue to build great connections on LinkedIn and also keep a check on all the companies related to this field.

A Solution to High Initial Costs

We successfully managed to convince the people that even though the initial costs will get high but the Return On Investment (ROI) is what they look for. We showed examples of the electricity bills of the people who have this service installed and give projections about how much they will be able to save on electricity every year. Apart from that our expert guest speaker also catered questions of the audience and we got a positive response from the people which we measured by observing the interest of the audience showed while asking questions.

Change in our approach

Initially, we’ve focused only on the social media marketing as well as used it for spreading the awareness about green energy. These were the platforms for our interaction with the costumer at the beginning.

Initially used social media platforms

To make the greater impact of our mega project greater we started thinking of different ideas and what could be better than a webinar that was focused on raising awareness of solar PV panels. We wanted to make this project more than a consultancy company which could somehow contribute to the overall impact of solar energy in our surrounding at least. We invited Saad Ullah Khan who is the CEO of Electrosoft Technologies (solar company) to address this session. He made the session worth it with his invaluable information and experiences.

Poster of the webinar

He started the session by mentioning Pakistan’s position in the field of solar in comparison to other countries. He cleared the general myths considered in the field of solar. Also, he explained different types of solar systems and their suitability. The webinar was followed by a QnA session where different types of technical and non-technical questions were entertained such as which type of batteries are best suited for solar, are solar system operable without batteries, if rain has any adverse effect on solar plates, etc. Our audience numbered 28 and the session went well.

There are few glimpses of the webinar shown below that is hosted by our circle member Rija Shaheed for which I, being the circle leader so grateful to her for leading the webinar so well.

Impact

In a development country like Pakistan, where around 50 million people don’t have access to Electric Grid, where the demand of electricity is much more than the generation capacity, where the total expenditure on items like candles and kerosene is around $ 2.3 billion per year, nothing could be better than arranging an awareness session on Solar PV, in which the doubts of any person either having technical background or not could be cleared.

Impact of our project

For this, System Energy came with an idea of arranging a session which was named as “Lets Change The Energy Trend” to clear the doubts of people.

Besides this, system energy keeping their motive “Your first choice for Quality Consultation” in mind, managed to facilitate three clients and guided them to their best according to their budget and needs.

Consultation

As our main target is to provide consultancy to general public related to solar PV System. We have provided relevant consultation to 3 clients and proposed a proper solution in order to cater their problems. There are specifically 2 main concerns that a person will shift towards solar PV technology and they are Load Shedding and second one is High Electricity Bills.

As shown below, our 1st customer has Load Shedding problem. We had a meetup with our client in which we clear all his queries related to solar system and it’s processes. After their load calculations and site visit, we have proposed a customised solution with battery backup.

Client Name: Mr. Kamaal
Location: Block 3 Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi
Proposed System: 3 KW Hybrid System
Quotation and site view of our 1st Client

Our 2nd client has no electricity and their home is under construction. They wanted to run their home solely on Solar System so we proposed an off grid system, with that they will have electricity at night times as well.

Client Name: Mr. Jawad Shah
Location: B-176 Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Karachi
Proposed System: 3.5 KW Extendible Hybrid System
Quotation and Site View of our 2nd Client

Our last client has issues of high billing and tariff rates in summer season especially so after load calculation we have proposed a solar system with large production of Electricity in order to facilitate their whole load on solar in day times.

Client Name: Mr. Nawal Ahmed
Location: Plot D-11 Bath Island, Clifton, Karachi
Proposed System: 20 KW On grid System

Sustainability

Sustainability and future of our project

To make our project sustainable, we have focused on four ideas i.e. Superb marketing, Expansion, In-Person Consultation and Commission. We’ll create pamphlets and flyer for marketing and promotion purposes. As well as we are looking forward to connect with our clients through email and LinkedIn marketing. We’ll further focus on In-person consultation with our potential clients which will create more impact on the client himself. We’re also thinking to expand our project on large scale in the area like Malir Scheme 33 and Punjabi Saudagar etc. By adopting such strategies we’ll soon be able to get the commission from whom we had outsourced our project of a potential client. Also, we’ll get the 8% of the profit of the revenue generation from each of the project we outsource for the client with the collaboration of the company System Energy INSHA ALLAH ❤

Used memes just to make you people understand our strategy :)
